The Server is Down!

[This space reserved for some profound, witty and/or memorable explanation as to why this blog exists.]

This blog is mainly for me to comment on MMOs in a variety of ways, with the occasional personal interest or hobby post thrown in.  I felt it was important to blog about MMOs because there are only 150 or so MMO/Gaming blogs out there.  The world needed one more.

Lots of phat lewt to Darren “The Common Sense Gamer” Love for his words of advice and many years of online friendship.  He’s responsible for getting me into the blogosphere. Accordingly, my self-esteem and future as a human being now rest squarely on his shoulders.

 About Me

Name:  Kevin

Level:  33

Character Class:  Single White Gamer Guy (SWGG)

No surprises there I suppose.  I currently reside in the great state of Texas and attended Texas A&M University.  My love for gaming started when I was a kid, as it probably does for most of us.  I grew up playing a variety of “traditional” games - board, card and roleplaying games.  My love for gaming really grew out of that experience, and in 1982 I was exposed to pc gaming for the first time when my dad brought home a Commodore 64.

At this point I’ve been playing computer/PC games for over 20 years, with fond memories of early classics like The Bard’s Tale, Might and Magic series, Ultima series and the SSI “Gold Box” series.  How times have changed!  I was introduced to the world of online gaming in 1994 during college.  I got hooked on MUDs and played two for a fair amount of time - Mystic Adventures and Mortal Realms.  From there, I went on to play Shadows of Yserbius, The Realm, and finally got into EverQuest during it’s beta 3 phase.  EQ forever changed the way I looked at online gaming and I still have fond memories of my time there to this day.

Since that time, I have journeyed through the worlds of Asheron’s Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online, Horizons, CoH/CoV, EQII, WoW and Vanguard.  I look forward to continuing the journey in the years ahead.

In closing, other hobbies of mine include fantasy novels, movies, offline gaming, comics, and looking for “Mrs. Right”.

Kevin
